the perfect winter cocktail

We finally got some real snow last night, just a dusting by MI standards, but at least it isn't more rain.

I made pumpkin cake last night, from my BH&G Biggest Book of Cookies. It is a bar recipe, really, but I made it a bit cake-ier and didn't frost it. To accompany the cake we had warm cocktails, from a recipe/suggestion I found when looking for things to do with slightly gone apple cider. What I did:

- coat the bottom of the glass with honey
I used my tall white hot chocolate mugs, and two of the leftover honey sticks from our wedding, about 1/2 t. ea.
- warm about 3/4 C. cider per glass
- into each glass pour: 2 T. brandy, 1/4 t. vanilla, and around 1/4 t. cinnamon
- over this pour 3/4 C. cider and stir well

I think this would be really good with chai tea concentrate (or even brewed tea) instead of the vanilla and cinnamon, but I don't have any on hand presently. I'll try it out and let you know :o)

They were really tasty and pretty, but of course I didn't think to photograph anything *sigh*

We ate the cake and drank our cocktails while watching episode two of season two of Downton Abbey, and then we re-watched (in fact, re-re-re-watched) the first episode of series one of Sherlock. More please!
