Yes, I'm an Election Inspector :o)
The primary a few weeks ago was my fourth election and they never cease to amaze me. I never know whether the process makes me happy or terribly depressed. Elections are expensive, complicated affairs largely staffed by little old ladies who aren't really getting paid enough. But we run a clean, youthful :o) election at good ol' pct 7 and our Clerk is competent. I love that the people in my group realize that, despite the complexity of election law, there is room for judgment calls. It was an entertaining time, but the turnout was low. This is always the depressing part. It wasn't as bad as the School Board election I worked where we had less than 20 voters all day, but still slow. We had a seriously contested race for the Republican state House nomination, and the Zoo was up for funding, yet we only had a line out the door once. It seems like a heck of a lot of work for something no one seems to care about *wink*. The presidential election will be crazy tho, I'm almost glad I have to vote absentee.
Today was rather nice, G-ma and I went to Ikea to find a storage unit for my art supplies. We had lunch and wandered around for a while until we found the room, the rolling-cart-mecca, and wrote down the pertinent aisle and bin numbers for my two favorites. Of course I agonized more than necessary over the final decision, but in the end I got a fire engine red, five-drawer cabinet on casters *squee* it is shiny, shiny indeed. I might go so far as to say that it squeaks my haggis.
Now all I need to do is organize my art supplies so I can actually put them in the above described storage unit.
Right...
