breakdown

Today was witness to our first pre-wedding breakdown. No, it wasn't me. It wasn't G. It wasn't our parents, it was just the car. Thankfully it seems like things are under control, we are fine, and hopefully the car will be as well. G is back in OH with my car, and his is under the supervision of my family's mechanic.

My first attempt at making my veil ended badly. The shape was right (in theory...), but the material was wrong. Today I acquired the right kind of veiling (in the best fabric store I have ever seen!), and things are coming together nicely. After purchasing the veiling, but before the breakdown, we went to the restaurant where we are having our post-reception family dinner next Sunday - I am still happily full, sooo good!

It is Carol Lombard day on TCM and I've got to say that movie writing was much better in the '30s.
from Nothing Sacred, c. 1937:

"I hope he's as nice as you"
"He's[...] sort of a cross between a ferris wheel and a werewolf"
